16th Headies Award Recap: Nominees and Winners

The Global Awards for Afrobeat Music popularly known as “The Headies”, held its 16th Headies Award ceremony on the 3rd of September in Atlanta, Georgia where Awards are presented across different categories of nominations. This makes it the second consecutive year the award will be held in the United States.

The Headies is recognized as the biggest Music Award in Nigeria, playing its role of awarding music and records and also recognizing the achievements in the Nigerian Music Industry as well as the musicians who have put in the efforts across the year, since its introduction in 2006 by the Hip Hop World Magazine of Nigeria. Parallel Facts takes a look at the event, highlighting the event and every major Award winner of the night.

The biggest Award winner of the night happens to be the Popularly known Mavin star Rema, who bagged three Awards. Rema did not just steal the show for himself by winning three awards of the night but also glued the show to his three gongs with his speech, being the main and most catching moment of the night. There are other big winners on the night with the likes of Asake who bagged two awards and Burna Boy who won the Afrobeat Single of the Year and the Best R&B Song. We take a look at the full list of the winners and Nominees.
