27 Dead, Over 100 Injured as Armed Forces Clash in Libya

According to reports inside the Libyan medical community, fighting in Tripoli between two prominent armed factions has resulted in the deaths of 27 individuals and the injuries of more than 100 others.

Late on Monday, violence broke out in the area after the Special Deterrence Force (SDF) arrested a commander of the 444 Brigade.

After the commander was given his freedom on Tuesday evening, things began to calm down.

The battle ended the relative peace that had prevailed in Tripoli for the previous months.

Libya has seen some degree of calm since the implementation of a ceasefire in 2020, but the country’s deeply ingrained factionalism poses a constant risk of derailing this peace.
