The Executive Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf Kabir has chided former Governor of the state, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for selling the Hasiya Bayero Pediatric Hospital which was constructed 30 years ago for children in the state to his political friend.
In a tweet on his verified Twitter handle, the governor opined “Today, we paid an assessment visit to the Hasiya Bayero Pediatric Hospital, once a haven for medical care to children and women in our state for over 30 years. And, which was closed down by the previous administration.
I’ve revoked its sale to an individual for a paltry sum. And, we shall now work towards renovating and re-opening it for public use.”
In the same vein, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has also revoked the sale of the new Government House under construction in Kwankasiyya City in Kano. The property which is allegedly valued at 500 million naira was also sold by Ganduje at the twilight of his infamous administration.
Still on the former Governor “selling spree” in Kano, unofficial documents have been flying around the media space suggesting that former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje also auctioned two mikano generators at Muhammad Wase Teaching Hospital worth N105 million at paltry sum of N680,000 as scraps. Parallel Facts gathered through a reliable source that as at the time the former governor auctioned these Generators out as scraps, they were in perfect working condition.
Reacting to these developments, supporters of the Governor, also known as Kwankwasiyyas have berated the former governor for almost selling the entire state during his tenure. Here are some of the reactions on micro blogging platform, Twitter.
Saif el-yaqoub tweeted “Ganduje sold the pediatric hospital (worth 150m+) to Kano APC party chairman for a paltry sum of 6million naira (converted to personal property) . Just imagine. What gandollar can do does not exist, everyone go collect when Tinubu makes him the FCT minister”.
Another supporter of the Governor @Adam_A_Thinker said “Previous govt under the watch of Ganduje sold this place (Hospital) worth over 100 million excluding the building to one Alhaji ****** Dan Agundi at the sum of 6 million naira for personal use. Big shame on both the buyer and seller of this structure.”
The actions of former Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje have sparked outrage among the public, as they signify a blatant disregard for the welfare and interests of the people of Kano. The illegal sale of vital government assets, including a pediatric hospital and a new Government House, raises serious questions about the former governor’s integrity, accountability and sincerity of purpose.
It is imperative that a thorough investigation be conducted to determine the extent of the damage caused by these illegal transactions and to hold those responsible accountable for their actions in the interest of the public.
