Two senior officials have been placed on suspension by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) for approving the ‘All Eyes on Judiciary’ billboard advertisement in Abuja.
The Director General of ARCON announced this in a statement on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.
The statement lists the Director and Deputy Director of Regulations for the council as the affected officials.
In the statement, the DG said that an advertisement is unmistakably a form of blackmail directed against the Nigerian judiciary and the honourable justices of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal. He continued by saying that the advertisement might cause public disturbance and a breach of public peace.
The billboard, which reads “All Eyes on the Judiciary” and was sponsored by Diaspora’s For Good Governance, appears as Nigerians wait anxiously for the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal’s Judgment.
There have also been rumours, which have been refuted many times, that the judges are attempting to rule in favor of Tinubu despite alleged compelling evidence to disqualify him.
Interstingly, Bola Tinubu is battling to defend his forged academic certificate submitted to INEC, Shettima’s double nomination, $460,000 in drug money forfeited in the U.S., as well as INEC’s suspension of the electoral guidelines in the flawed elections of February 25th that brought him to office before the Presidential Election Petition Court.
We need more billboards…Dem go destroy dem go tire
