African Gaint Burna Boy Makes History As First African With UK Number 1 Album

Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, is a Grammy-winning Nigerian singer. His album “I Told Them” is the first album by an African act to reach number one in the UK.

“I Told Them,” Burna Boy’s seventh studio record, debuted at number 1 on the UK albums chart this week, the Official Charts Company said on Friday.

The British record chart company gave the singer of “African Giant” a plaque to mark the success of his song.

“He said it! “Today, @burnaboy makes UK chart history by getting his first No. 1 album,” the company wrote on Twitter.

Burna Boy, who was very happy, repeated the tweet’s caption, “Let’s Have It! #ITOLDTHEM #ITOLDTHEMNUM1.”

The singer from Port Harcourt’s last two albums, Twice As Tall and Love Damini, both landed at Number 2 on the UK albums chart. His latest album, however, put him at the top of the chart for the first time.
