Two American Tourists Found Dead in Mexican Hotel Room

In a devastating incident, two American tourists were discovered dead in their luxury hotel room at Hyatt’s Rancho Pescadero in Mexico’s Baja California peninsula. Paramedics who responded to the scene reported experiencing “intoxication symptoms such as hypoxia and racing heartbeat,” leading them to leave and seek medical attention for themselves, as they felt the environment was unsafe, according to statements made to ABC News.

Upon entering the room on Tuesday night at approximately 9:10 p.m. local time, the paramedics found a lifeless woman on the bed and a lifeless man in the fetal position on the shower floor, which was still running. The American victims, identified as 28-year-old Abby Lutz and 41-year-old John Heathco from Newport Beach, California, showed no signs of vital signs. Authorities determined that the victims had been deceased for approximately 10 to 11 hours before their discovery, and there were no indications of violence or a struggle. The exact cause of death is yet to be determined, and the State Attorney General’s Office of Baja California Sur stated on Thursday that it was related to “intoxication by substance to be determined.”
