David Raya has officially signed with Arsenal on a season-long loan with a purchase option.
The Gunners have a £27m buyout option and have already paid a £3m loan fee for the Spaniard. Raya will dress in shirt with number 22.
In order to maintain value should Arsenal decide not to exercise the option, the 27-year-old decided to extend his contract with Brentford. The arrangement has been pushed by Arsenal to follow FFP regulations.
Despite Aaron Ramsdale’s excellent goalkeeping efforts, manager Mikel Arteta wants to see the England international face stiffer opposition.
Raya moved from west to north London on a season-long loan after passing his medical last week.
On Saturday, the 27-year-old was observed watching the Arsenal’s exhibition game versus Nottingham Forest from the stands at the Emirates.
Raya seen his brand-new teammates defeat Steve Cooper’s club 2-1 as they made a strong start to the 2017 Premier League season.
