Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have been negotiating the sale of Ousmane Dembele for the past few days. The LaLiga champions won’t stop the 26-year-old from joining PSG; he is eager to do so.
Barcelona will only receive €27m of the €50m that PSG will spend to sign Dembele, with the rest going to the French international and his agency.
According to Relevo, Barca will try to reinvest these sums into a new right-back, an area that Xavi Hernandez is eager to strengthen. Joao Cancelo of Manchester City has been named as the Blaugrana’s primary target in this regard.
After his relationship with Pep Guardiola fell apart, Cancelo is unlikely to stay at Manchester City this summer. Barcelona is eager to capitalize on the circumstance, although they have not yet made a formal approach for the Portuguese player.
Ivan Fresneda of Real Valladolid is wanted by several Barcelona board members, but Xavi is set on Cancelo. It is still unclear how the situation will turn out.
