At a court hearing, a jury was told that footballer Benjamin Mendy allegedly raped a lady and told her, “I’ve had sex with 10,000 women,” according to BBC News.
The 28-year-old footballer is being accused of attacking a 24-year-old woman at the time, at his home in Cheshire, in October 2020.
The French man is also said to have attempted to rape another woman, who was 29 at the time, two years earlier at his home.
All charges against Benjamin were denied, and the player is currently on trial at Chester Crown Court.
The club has suspended the Manchester City player since his trial started, and they have stated that they will release him when his contract expires on June 30, 2023.
Cheshire Constabulary charged Mendy with four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault on August 26, 2021. Mendy appeared in court on September 10 and was remanded in custody.
While in custody, the player was charged with three more counts of rape. On January 7, 2022, he was granted bail by the court.
Amidst several more charges, the player was found not guilty of six counts of rape and one of sexual assault on January 13, 2023.
It was discovered during Benjamin’s retrial for his unresolved charges that started on June 26, 2023, in Chester Crown Court that Benjamin had informed the lady he had raped that he had had sex with 10,000 women.
