The Abia State Police Command has successfully apprehended three suspected killers of the two policemen who were brutally attacked and murdered near Ariaria International Market in Aba. The policemen were on official duty, serving as part of the security detail for the state Commissioner for Trade, Commerce, and Industry, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu.
After the tragic incident, Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, paid a visit to the area, where he interacted with residents and traders. During his visit, Governor Otti issued a stern directive to the security agencies to track down the culprits responsible for the heinous crime.
Following credible intelligence, the police took swift action and raided a hotel located in Ohanze Obingwa Local Government Area on Thursday at approximately 11:30 a.m., resulting in the arrest of three male suspects.
During the operation, the police discovered incriminating evidence in the suspects’ possession, which included two revolver pistols, six rounds of 7.62x39MM AK-47 rifle ammunition, and five rounds of 9MM ammunition.
The authorities are now conducting further investigations to delve into the circumstances surrounding the gruesome attack and identify any potential accomplices or motives behind the act of violence.
The successful arrest of the suspects demonstrates the commitment and efficacy of the Abia State Police Command in swiftly responding to criminal incidents and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
