Carlos Alcaraz advances to third round of US Open with win over Lloyd Harris

World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the third round of the US Open on Thursday with a straight-sets victory over Lloyd Harris at Flushing Meadows.

Alcaraz, who is considered one of the rising stars of men’s tennis, defeated Harris 6-3 6-1 7-6 (7-4) in two hours and 28 minutes. The Spaniard was in control throughout the match, hitting 33 winners and breaking Harris’ serve five times.

The win was essentially Alcaraz’s first victory of the championship after his first-round opponent had retired injured. He will now face the winner of the match between John Isner and Filip Krajinovic in the third round.

Alcaraz has been in impressive form this season, winning three titles and reaching the quarterfinals of the French Open. He will be hoping to continue his good run at the US Open and make a deep run in the tournament.

The US Open is one of the four Grand Slam tournaments in tennis and is considered one of the most prestigious events in the sport. It is held annually in late August and early September at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York.
