Lesley Ugochukwu’s acquisition by Chelsea from Rennes in a transaction worth £23.2m has been officially announced. Mauricio Pochettino has already given his assessment of the France international, making the teenager the eighth summer acquisition for the Blues.
The Argentine was asked what he thought amid reports of his Stamford Bridge switch. “We need experience in midfield,” he said, “I believe you’re still saying that. “I am in possession of the information you have.” According to my research, they may have signed a French player with the intention of loaning him out. The information was already in your laptop.”
As part of the announcement announcing his arrival, co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley were quoted by Chelsea as saying, “We’re delighted Lesley is joining Chelsea. He is a talented young player who has established himself in Ligue 1.
“He has a huge amount of potential and we know he is going to continue to develop and improve. We are pleased that he has joined us in the U.S and that he will be able to integrate with the squad quickly.”
