Deco Signs a Contract to Serve as Barcelona’s Sporting Director

Anderson Luis de Souza “Deco” and FC Barcelona have agreed to have him join the Club. The first team player from 2004 to 2008 signs a three-season contract to serve as the club’s sporting director.

Deco will be in charge of establishing the sporting philosophies of FC Barcelona, assembling the team with the coach and the coaching, and taking over as director of the football department.

This inclusion is consistent with a statement made on May 2 in which Mateu Alemany, the director of the Football Area, and the President agreed that Alemany would be relieved of his duties on September 2, when the current transfer window closes.

Mateu Alemany and Deco will continue to collaborate up until the transfer window’s closure, as indicated in the press release.
