Ajax have honoured the request of Dusan Tadic to terminate his current contract that runs until June 30, 2024.
The Serbian transfered from English side Southampton in 2018 to Ajax and made his debut for the club during the Champions League second qualifying round against Sturm Graz (2-0).
Tadic was born on November 20, 1988, in Bačka Topola, in former Yugoslavia.
The captain had a successful debut season at Ajax in 2018-19, winning the double and contributing significantly to the European run that concluded in the Champions League semifinal.
He received the Johan Cruijff Shield in 2019. Due to COVID, the 2020 season was halted, and Ajax finished first in the standings. They went on to win the title again the next two years. He has won three championships in total in the Netherlands. In 2019 and 2021, he twice won the Dutch Cup.
The 34-year-old player who also won the Dutch Player of the Year award in his debut season played 241 matches for Ajax and scored a total of 105 goals and assisted 112.
Dusan Tadic expressed his gratitude to the club and his fans, he wrote on his Instagram page thanking the fans and saying, “this is not a goodbye, but rather a see you later.”
