The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, narrowly escaped death on Wednesday when a portion of the state high court building collapsed while he was in his office.
Currently, he is receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital within the state.
The incident occurred towards the end of the workday on Wednesday, possibly due to structural deficiencies exacerbated by heavy rainfall. Thankfully, no lives were lost in the collapse; however, the Chief Judge suffered significant injuries when a section of his office caved in.
Rescue efforts by the court staff were necessary to extricate the judge from the debris. Journalists seeking more information attempted to visit the Registrar’s office, but they were directed to return at a later time by a staff member.
