Erling Haaland of Manchester City has been honoured with the PFA Player of the Year award in addition to his Premier League Player of the Year and EPL Golden Boot awards for his outstanding 2022-23 season.
After an outstanding season with Manchester City in which he scored 52 goals in 53 appearances, the Norwegian dynamite has maintained his status as one of the favourites for the 2023 Ballon d’Or.
After winning the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, and FA Cup crowns last season, the Cityzens achieved an incredible treble thanks to goals from Haaland, a 23-year-old who topped the scoring charts in two of the three categories.
In the award’s 50-year history, the Manchester City player is the first Norwegian to receive it.
Despite being qualified, Bukayo Saka of Arsenal won the PFA Young Player of the Year award instead of Haaland, who will be happy to take home the night’s top honour.
Haaland’s next goal will be to get European recognition at the Ballon d’Or and UEFA Player of the Year honours after winning the majority of the domestic trophies in England.
He competes against some of the biggest and finest names in international football for these honours, but after winning yet another individual prize, he will feel confident about competing against them.
