Federal Government Approves The Concessioning of Nnamdi Azikiwe and Aminu Kano International Airports.

The Federal Executive Council has approved the concession of Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport Kano and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja.

Speaking to journalists, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, said the Kano Airport will be concessioned for 30 years while the Abuja airport will be concessioned for 20 years.

The Minister added, “The council also approved the draft national civil aviation policy, which is geared towards strengthening civil aviation”.

Last week, the Federal Executive Council also approved contracts for engagement to develop master plans for 17 airports.

In addition, the ministry has also procured ten fire fighting trucks as well as signalling its intent to demolish two private hangars and their offices to pave way for the expansion of the apron of the newly built $100m Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos, currently being underutilised.
