Federal Government To Cordon Off Federal Secretariat Complexes for Tinubu’s Inauguration

The Federal Government has announced that the Federal Secretariat Complexes Phases I, II, and III, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will be cordoned off by security forces from 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 26, 2023, to Monday, May 29, 2023, to ensure a smooth inauguration of President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on May 29 at Eagle Square.

Workers in the Federal Secretariat and visitors are advised to stay away from the Federal Secretariat from 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 26, to Tuesday, May 30, 2023, when work will resume.

This was stated in a circular dated May 19, 2023, and signed by Dr. Ngozi Onwudiwe, Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office, Office of the Head of Service of the Federation, addressed to all ministries and government agencies.

The circular reads:

“As you are aware, the Presidential Transition Council (PTC) has unveiled the activities for the 2023 Presidential Inauguration Ceremony.

“The climax of the program will be the Inauguration Parade and Swearing-in of President-Elect, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Monday, May 29, 2023, at Eagle Square, Central Business District, Abuja.

“In accordance with security arrangements for the event, the Federal Secretariat Complexes Phases I, II, and III, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will be cordoned off by security forces from 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 26, 2023, to Monday, May 29, 2023.”

The circular further stated that all staff and visitors are advised to use alternative routes to their destinations during the period of the cordoning off.

The Federal Government regrets any inconveniences this may cause and thanks the general public for their understanding and cooperation.
