Within the following few hours, FC Barcelona will say goodbye to Franck Kessie. The Ivorian midfielder, who is currently in France, has successfully completed his medical and will sign a new deal with Saudi Arabian team Al-Ahli until 2026.
Kessie had been waiting to leave all summer, but Juventus and Tottenham who had both expressed interest in the 26-year-old couldn’t bring the move to fruition.
Although the former Milan player initially wished to remain in Europe, Saudi Arabia’s persistence ultimately played a crucial role, and he will now receive a salary that is approximately 20 million euros per year, which is twice as much as his current income. Additionally, he will add 15 million euros to Barca’s transfer fund.
According to reports in France, Sofyan Amrabat was Al-Ahli’s top option, but after numerous rejections, they were forced to settle for Kessie.
