The 30-player list of Nominees for the 2023 Ballon d’Or was released on Wednesday ahead of the 30th of October, the D-Day for the announcement of the winner.
Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland are the two top names on the list. The former who already won seven Ballon d’or is contending for the eighth Ballon d’Or following his success at the last World Cup with Argentina. In February, the player also won the FIFA Best Men’s Award for the second time.
Erling Haaland is another new strong name contending for the award. Erling “Goal Beast” Haaland scored 52 goals in just 53 games across all competitions. The Manchester City Striker also clinched the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League, and many more trophies. The player will have the chance of winning his first Ballon d’Or but the Goated Leonel Messi appears as the favorite to lift the Award.
