On Sunday, May 28, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the departing governor of Kano State, will officially transfer over the reins of the state’s affairs to Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, the governor-elect. The celebration will start at 9:00 p.m. in Kano’s Government House. Additionally, it demonstrates that the handover date of May 29th is not sacrosant.
The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Mallam Muhammad Garba, made this announcement in a statement. According to the statement, the Kano State Government has already informed the transition team for the next governor of the event.
The two committees have met this week to develop a coordinated schedule for the handover event, which will include presenting a document to the committee of the incoming governor.
Mallam Garba emphasised the significance of the occasion by saying, “This ceremony marks the peaceful transfer of power in Kano State.
In order to ensure a smooth transition of power, Governor Ganduje has the chance to legally cede control to Governor-elect Abba Kabir Yusuf.
As the leader of the Kano team travels to Abuja for the inauguration of former governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Monday, May 29, Governor Ganduje will leave after the handover.
An important turning point in Kano State’s political environment can be seen in the official handover ceremony.
“As we witness this transition of power, let us remain united and committed to the progress and prosperity of Kano State,” Mallam Garba said in a speech urging Kano residents to keep praying for peace and progress in the state.
