In a brazen and barbaric attack, gunmen on Monday, July 17, 2023, shot dead Eze James Nnamdi, the traditional ruler of Ezuhu Nguru Nweke community in the Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.
The gunmen, who invaded the monarch’s palace in a Sienna car around 3 pm, shot him dead and escaped with sporadic gunshots.
The incident has sparked grief and outrage in the community and the state, as the monarch was widely respected and loved by his people. He was also known for his peace-making efforts and his support for development projects in the area. He was survived by his wife and four children.
The motive behind the killing is still unknown, but some sources have speculated that it may be related to a land dispute or a political rivalry.
