After reaching a preliminary agreement with Galatasaray for the winger, Hakim Ziyech is allegedly close to leaving Chelsea.
Fabrizio Romano, a transfer insider, claims that Chelsea are approaching the deal cautiously and that there are still some technicalities to be worked out, although Ziyech is scheduled to have a medical.
Given that Ziyech recently almost missed two moves, Chelsea’s caution is understandable.
The Moroccan star was expected to clinch a loan deal with PSG in January, but the deal collapsed on deadline day. PSG accused Chelsea of sending them unsigned documents twice to thwart the transfer.
Ziyech was apparently on the verge of joining Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia earlier this summer, a move that would have increased his yearly salary to £9m net.
The arrangement, however, fell through after his examination revealed a knee issue.
Ziyech may experience third-time luck as he gets closer to joining Galatasaray.
Although the 30-year-old joined Chelsea in 2020, his Premier League career has not flourished.
For the west London club, Ziyech has made 107 appearances but scored only 14 goals.
At Stamford Bridge, he slid down the pecking order last season, playing in just 18 league games as Chelsea finished in 12th place.
His time at Chelsea now appears to be drawing to a close, as he was left off the team for their Sunday season opener against Liverpool.
