The Kaduna State House of Assembly has suspended three local government chairpersons in the state over allegations of financial mismanagement.
The suspension was announced on Tuesday after the chairpersons were accused of awarding contracts without due process, as mandated by the Kaduna State Public Procurement Law of 2016, Section 35 Subsection 23.
The suspended chairpersons have been directed to hand over the affairs of their respective local governments to their deputies, pending the outcome of investigations into the allegations against them.
The state government has assured the public that it will leave no stone unturned in its quest to rid the state of corruption and ensure that public funds are used for the benefit of the people.
The suspension of the three local government chairpersons is a bold step in the right direction and a clear indication that the state government is determined to tackle corruption head-on. It is hoped that this move will warn other public officials to always act in the best interest of the people they serve.
