According to recent reports, Nwankwo Kanu, the former captain of the Super Eagles and ex-Arsenal International, is in the running to become the new chairman of Enyimba, the team that won the Nigeria Premier League.

The government of Abia State opted to dissolve the board of the Peoples’ Elephant, which had existed in the past.

Felix Anyansi-Agwu, a former chairman of the team, took command of the organization 23 years ago while it was still in its infancy.

During his tenure as president, the Aba Giants won a total of nine Nigeria Professional League titles and two CAF Champions League crowns.

Kanu, who has already won the Premier League, is rumored to be in the running for the role, according to reports coming out of Umuahia.

In the upcoming season, Enyimba will be participating in the CAF Champions League.
