The captain of Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad, Karim Benzema, sustained an injury and was forced to leave the pitch during the first half of the match against Al-Wehda.
Benzema, who had a very difficult final season at Real Madrid, in large part due to numerous injury issues, called it quits with football in Europe and decided to move to Al-Ittihad.
The 2021-22 Ballon d’Or winner was also denied a World Cup outing due to injury. However, the French striker’s new start at Al-Ittihad has met with an old problem, with Diario AS reporting that the player was forced off the pitch after 42 minutes in their victory over Al Wehda on Monday.
The former Real Madrid striker is thought to have had an abductor injury, which could cause him to miss several weeks, which would be extremely unfavourable for him and Al-Ittihad.
