Kebbi Rainstorm Damages 100 Homes

Kebbi State Government vowed to aid victims of the torrential downpour that destroyed over 100 buildings in Zauro town of Birnin Kebbi local Government Area.

In Zauro town, State Government Secretary Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafidan Yauri said this.

On behalf of Kebbi State Governor Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, and Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, they sent condolences to Zauro residents.

He promised victims rapid aid from Dr. Nasir Idris’s government.

I promise the victims relief from the government.

The Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris-Karun Gwandu administration has consistently helped disaster victims.

He promised to meet with SEMA and HYPPADEC quickly to help victims.

Alhaji Shafi’u Zauro, the governor’s Special Adviser on Special Duties and a native of Zauro, told reporters at the scene that the governor has also ordered him to immediately mobilize the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, and other relevant authorities to assess the situation and aid the victims.

He added that the Governor ordered relief for Zauro town’s downpour victims.

The Executive Director of SEMA, Engr. Abbas Rabi’u Kamba, told journalists at the scene that the agency had taken inventory of the people impacted and the level of damage before delivering food and building materials.

Alhaji Abbas Kamba said the rainfall wrecked around 100 houses.

The Executive Director suggested urban and rural residents grow trees to reduce windstorm damage.

Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa Katuka, Managing Director of HYPPADEC, said the commission will work with SEMA to help victims.

He was pleased that the Kebbi State Government arrived quickly.

Alhaji Aliyu Tsoho Zauro, a victim, claimed powerful winds and loud thunder destroyed his house.
