Labour Party: Tinubu’s Inauguration laced with Lies and Deceit

The Labour Party (LP) criticized President Bola Tinubu’s inaugural speech as a celebration of falsehoods and dishonesty, emphasizing that Nigerians are aware that they were mistreated during the previous presidential election.

The Labour Party expressed sadness over President Tinubu’s declaration that the most recent election was fair in a statement released by the party’s acting national publicity secretary, Obiora Ifoh, noting that the party views “this audacity as a slap on the faces of millions of Nigerians who voted their conscience but were robbed by a collective power of state institutions and brute bringandry unleashed on them.”

The Labour Party expressed its disappointment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s inaugural speech, saying it “clearly exposed the shallowness and policy inconsistency that his administration, while it lasts, is hoping to bequeath to Nigerians.”

First, the President said that he “fairly won” the difficult election that put him in office. He added that he felt most proud of himself today.

But we think the speech was flawed in a lot of ways. Recall that the late President Umaru Yar’Adua stated during the swearing in of his administration that the election that had elected him had been flawed and imperfect, but he pledged to repair the electoral process.

“But today, Nigerians were horrified by Tinubu’s brazenness and joy in claiming that his election was fair.

“We view this boldness as a slap in the face to millions of Nigerians who exercised their right to vote but were cheated by the combined force of state institutions and the use of brute force against them.

Nigerians won’t soon forget Tinubu’s order to “grab power and run with it,” which was implemented on election day, February 25, when he was running for president of the All Progressives Congress.

“What we saw today was a celebration of lies and deceit, which explains why there isn’t the pomp and circumstance that usually surrounds a significant accomplishment like what we had today; instead, the streets seem like graveyards.

“Once more, the Labour Party promised Nigerians during the campaign that if given the chance to rule, we would, among other things, convert our economy from one of consumption to one of production and provide concrete examples of how we could do so.

But after hearing President Tinubu read a speech that was allegedly written by his team today, it was clear that we were heading back to the year 2015, when we had high hopes but no way of realizing them.

“Over the past eight years, Nigerians have been repeatedly fed stories claiming that the PDP’s previous administration inflicted economic and political disaster upon the country.

“Over those years, the Buhari administration did very little or nothing to address these issues. Nigeria is poised to experience a similar, if not worse, scenario once more.

“APC destroyed this country, and we must prevent it from getting worse. We must become aware of our responsibilities to hold people in positions of authority responsible.
