Manchester United are reportedly finalising a £72m deal for Atalanta player Rasmus Hojlund.
Hojlund’s medical is expected to be finished this week, and Man United hopes to formalise a five-year contract with the option of an additional one year, in time for him to participate in one of the team’s remaining preseason games.
This weekend, United will play two matches against Lens and Athletic Bilbao.
Hojlund’s contract is worth an initial £64 million plus £8m in performance-based add-ons. Atlanta entered talks seeking a £77m guarantee.
There was no worry about PSG’s interest in the Danish international because Old Trafford has long been the forward’s preferred location, as previously revealed by Sky Sports News.
El Bilal Toure, a forward from Almeria, was acquired by Atalanta on Saturday, giving the Premier League team a boost. Hojlund, however, was left off the team that played Bournemouth in a preseason friendly.
The majority of United’s inbound business has already been completed, and any future arrivals will probably depend on departures.
The likes of Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, Fred, and Donny van de Beek are of interest.
United is thought to be prepared to enter the market and take its position if there are any exits.
Sofyan Amrabat of Fiorentina is still the subject of considerable interest for the Red Devils. #Man U
