Manchester United is reconsidering its pursuit of Harry Kane of Tottenham and has now turned its attention to Victor Osimhen of Nigeria.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, despite United’s growing interest in Osimhen, Napoli’s €140 million asking price is a huge hurdle if Manchester United will get Osimhen this summer.
Instead, United intends to hold off until later in the transfer season in the hopes that Aurelio de Laurentiis, the president of Napoli, may change his mind about selling Osimhen. At the introduction of new coach Rudi Garcia on Monday, De Laurentiis made a suggestion about Osimhen’s prospective exit.
Osimhen must remain, I’ve been saying for a while, De Laurentiis remarked. “Then, as is only natural, we would consider it if an offer came in that I could not refuse for the good of Napoli.”
The 23-year-old is a versatile forward who can play on the wing or as a centre forward. Other strikers, such as Benfica’s Darwin Nunez and Fiorentina’s Duan Vlahovi, are also on United’s radar. The deadline for transfers is August 31.
