The death toll from the boat mishap in Niger State on Sunday has increased from 26 to 30.
Three male children and 27 females, according to Hussaine Ibrahim, the spokesman for the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), who revealed this Monday to pressmen.
In addition, Hussain revealed that four communities in the Mokwa LGA—Gbajibo, Yankyade, Biagi, and Ekwa—were impacted.
He said, when the rescued victims arrived in the communities on Monday, the majority of them were still in shock and unable to communicate.
He claimed that more women were traveling to the farm when they boarded the boat.
In the past, a boat carrying more than 100 passengers capsized on Sunday in Niger State’s Mokwa Local Government Area, killing 30 people on board. 30 more people were saved.
No other passengers were confirmed to have been saved on Monday by Hussaine.
