The FT-7NI trainer aircraft of the Nigerian Air Force has crashed in Makurdi, the state capital of Benue.
The event reportedly took place on Friday night during a routine training exercise.
Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the NAF’s director of public relations and information, has confirmed the incident.
According to Gabkwet, two of the aircraft’s pilots were alive and being treated in a military clinic.
Fortunately, the two pilots on board managed to successfully eject from the aircraft, and they survived the accident, he continued. Additionally, there were no fatalities or property losses in the vicinity of the hit.
At the NAF Base Hospital in Makurdi, “both pilots are now under examination. A Board of Inquiry has been established by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Hasan Abubakar, to ascertain the primary and indirect reasons for the incident, he said.
