A Magistrate Court at Iyaganku, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, has ordered the remand of skit maker Abdullahi Maruff Adisa, popularly known as Trinity Guy, in Agody prison until August. He was summoned by the Nigerian Police authorities over his skit involving a female minor in a sexualized prank.
Trinity Guy is a popular content creator known for his humorous skits on social media. However, one of his recent skits involving a young girl has caused controversy and led to his arrest. The Nigeria Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has expressed displeasure over the viral skit where the little girl is being sexualized.
The trial court ruled that Trinity Guy would remain in custody until the next adjourned date, August 3, 2023. Alongside the entertainer, the court on Tuesday also remanded the parents of the minor, Isiaka Ahmed, 40, and his wife, Rofiat Ahmed, 29.
The case has sparked a debate on social media about content creators’ responsibilities and minors’ protection. Many are calling for stricter regulations to prevent the exploitation of children in the entertainment industry.
