NURTW President, Others Arrested Over Alleged Killing

The National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Tajudeen Baruwa, and over 20 other members have been arrested by the FCT Police Command. The arrests were made in connection with conduct that borders on public disturbance and breach of peace.

The individuals arrested, including Tajudeen Baruwa and three national officers of NURTW, are being detained by the police in Abuja. They were invited for interrogation by the FCT Command and subsequently moved to the former Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Guzape.

The spokesperson of the Command, SP Josephine Adeh, stated that those arrested will be charged to court for criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, and conduct likely to cause breach of public peace among others.

This action followed a fracas that broke out between factions of the union at the Garki 2 area of its office. During this violent clash, one person was reportedly killed, prompting the police to arrest several union members.
