The embattled deputy governor of Edo State, Comrade Phillip Shaibu, pledged his loyalty to Governor Godwin Obaseki on Sunday in Benin City after a state function.
Shaibu, who spoke shortly after the Thanksgiving service organized to mark the 32nd year anniversary of the creation of Edo State, described Governor Obaseki as his elder brother and would not want to discuss whatever differences they had with the media.
Shaibu expressed his unwavering loyalty to Obaseki during an interview at the interdenominational thanksgiving ceremony commemorating the Midwest Referendum and the 32nd anniversary of Edo State, which was held at the New Festival Hall, Government House, Benin City.
He said, “My loyalty to the governor remains absolute. I see that everybody is showing solidarity. I am also in solidarity with the governor. I am also declaring my unalloyed solidarity and loyalty to the governor and nothing more.
Recall that the deputy governor has dragged Governor Godwin Obaseki, the speaker of the Edo state house of assembly, and the chief justice of Edo state to the federal high court in Abuja over plans to impeach him (Philip Shauibu) from office.
