Olalekan Ponle aka Woodberry Sentenced to 8 Years in Prison for Multimillion-Dollar Fraud

Woodberry has been sentenced to eight years and three months in prison for his involvement in a multimillion-dollar fraud. At the District Court of the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago, Judge Robert Gettleman handed down the sentence.

The FBI detained Hushpuppi and Woodberry, whose real name is Olalekan Ponle, in 2019 for fraudulent activities. While Hushpuppi was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment a few months ago, Woodberry’s fate remained uncertain until now.

In addition to his prison sentence, Woodberry has also been ordered to pay seven victims an amount of $8 million in restitution after the court discovered he has the funds to pay off victims. Furthermore, he will be “surrendered to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody for deportation immediately following his incarceration”, according to the judge.

This news has poked a stir through the entertainment industry, with many expressing their disbelief at the turn of events. Woodberry’s fall from grace serves as a cautionary tale about the consequences of engaging in fraudulent activities.
