Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is facing legal action from the All Progressives Congress (APC) for declaring himself as the state’s commissioner for works. The APC has filed a suit against the governor in the state high court, marking it as HOS/03/79/2023.
The respondents in the suit include the governor, his deputy, the state’s attorney general and commissioner for justice, and the state’s house of assembly as the first, second, third and fourth respondents respectively.
Some argue that the governor’s self-appointment is a breach of the separation of powers, while others believe that it is within his rights as the head of the state government.
The outcome of this legal battle remains to be seen, but it is sure to have significant implications for the political landscape in Osun State.
