Abba Kabir Yusuf, the governor of Kano State, has already fired his first shot against former governor Abdullahi Ganduje few hours after assuming office. The new governor mandated in an executive order he personally signed that “all political appointees heading government MDAs and companies are hereby relieved of their appointment with immediate effect.”He also immediately disbanded the boards of all MDAs, businesses, and academic institutions.
The state’s security agencies have been ordered by the governor to seize possession of all public properties that the previous administration had sold.In the meantime, he stated, “law enforcement agencies, led by the Police, the DSS, Civil Defense, and Hisbah,” should seize control of all the public properties and assets that had been immorally pillaged and sold by the Ganduje administration.
The governor was referring to various properties, including “lands in and around schools, religious and cultural sites, hospitals and clinics, graveyards and green areas, and along the city wall of Kano”, as well as other landed properties and assets belonging to Kano State both inside and outside the state sold to their friends and agents.
“He stated that a Judicial Commission of Inquiry would be established soon “to ensure that all perpetrators and those who aided and abetted them are brought to justice.”
