Raytheon Awarded $264 Million Contract for AIM-9X Sidewinder Missiles


Raytheon Technologies, a prominent defense company, announced on Monday that it has secured a modification contract worth $264 million from the United States Navy. The contract entails the production and delivery of 571 short-range AIM-9X Sidewinder missiles.

This contract modification falls under the production Lot 23 agreement, which was originally granted to it in December 2022. The company emphasized that it would also manufacture associated components for the U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, and international military sales customers. Additionally, the defense contractor will provide captive air training systems, containers, related kits, and support equipment for the missiles.

In a separate development, Raytheon Technologies disclosed during an investor day on Monday that it expects a $500 million decrease in free cash flow due to a supply chain issue with the GTF engine, produced by its subsidiary Pratt & Whitney. The company acknowledged the challenge and is actively working to address and resolve the matter.
