In a public forum organized by the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), Senator Tony Nwoye, the representative of Anambra North Senatorial District and a prominent figure in the Labour Party, issued a stern warning to Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State.
Sen. Tony Nwoye urged the governor to refrain from his unsavory attacks against the former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of one of Nigeria’s main opposition parties, the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi.
During the forum, which has garnered attention on social media through a circulating video, Senator Nwoye addressed the issue in Igbo while standing alongside Senator Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central District, and popular businessman Sir Emeka Offor. Nwoye expressed his dissatisfaction with Governor Soludo’s attacks on Peter Obi, asserting that such actions were unwarranted, considering there was no valid reason for them.
The Senator clarified that Mr. Peter Obi did not play a pivotal role in his political journey, as he had been involved in elections before, and that his support for Obi was based on the latter’s demonstration of the resilience and strength of the Igbo people to the world. Senator Nwoye highlighted Peter Obi’s contribution to raising awareness about the existence and importance of the Igbo community.
Furthermore, Nwoye warned Governor Soludo that if the attacks continued without restraint, the consequences would be severe during the elections. He urged Governor Soludo to call his aides and supporters to order, reminding him that the Igbo people were a formidable force that should not be undermined.
The warning from Senator Tony Nwoye comes amidst Governor Soludo’s body language and comments, where he downplayed Mr. Peter Obi’s chances in the last elections, and an interview in which he described his predecessor’s investments as being next to nothing.
The public forum has added fuel to the ongoing political tension between prominent figures in Anambra State, drawing attention from supporters and critics alike. As the situation unfolds, political observers keenly watch for any developments and hope for a resolution to the conflict in the interest of peaceful and fair political engagements. #Tony Nwoye.
