Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB, claimed on Monday that the Nigerian government had paid for Simon Ekpa’s order to stay at home.
When press reporters from Owerri visited Kanu at the State Security Services (SSS) detention facility in Abuja, Kanu revealed this in a statement he made available to them through IPOB chief counsel Ifeanyi Ejiofor.
Ekpa’s sit-at-home protest, according to Kanu, was pointless and was harming the Southeast’s economy.
Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is still being kept involuntarily and unconstitutionally in solitary confinement, according to IPOB’s attorney, who said, “We visited our unflappable and formidable client, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, today, being the 31st Day of July 2023, at the SSS Headquarters, Abuja.

“The purpose of today’s visit was to update Onyendu on significant developments relating to his explicit written directive canceling the pointless sit-at-home policy that had previously been enforced by adversaries of our people.
Onyendu took advantage of the visit’s opportunity to warn our people and all Ezigbo Umuchineke that anyone who continues to adhere to any unofficial sit-at-home instruction should be aware that they are aiding the Nigerian government in its efforts to destroy our once-peaceful country.
“Onyendu was adamant that Simon Ekpa was hired and completely funded by the Nigerian government with the intention of stirring up trouble in our area. Onyendu ordered our people to look up the histories of liberation fighters around the globe and report or identify anyone, if any, whose method of liberating his or her people included subjecting the same people to unfathomable terror and hardship.
“Onyendu noticed that these marauders’ bad deeds, which have nothing to do with fighting for independence but include the commission of all types of violent crimes in our area, including kidnapping and murder, Other comprehensive orders Onyendu issued today regarding how to stop Ekpa and his criminal associates in their tracks shall be kept a secret.
