Suspected Terrorists are said to have attacked the village of Giyawa in the Goronyo Local Government Area of the state, killing four people and taking away eighteen others.
Goronyo is a local government in the East Senatorial District of Sokoto State that has a lot of problems.
Sokoto State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ahmed Rufai, confirmed this event and said that the attacker took away 18 people at first.
He also said that seven of the people who were taken away later escaped and went back to their town, from which many people had fled for safety.
Even though some people in the impacted area said that more than thirty people were taken, the police said that only eleven people were still with the attackers.
He said that the police are on the lookout for the attackers and are working to get things back to normal in the affected area and neighborhood.
Some people in the town who talked to our reporter on the phone disagree with the number of people who have been taken, saying that the number is closer to 30.
Inuwa Yusuf, a native of the area, told our reporter, “That’s not true. About thirty people have been taken by these Terrorists, who also steal our animals and get away with a lot of them.”
