Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr. Olayemi Michael Cardoso as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for a term of five years, pending confirmation by the Nigerian Senate according to Mr Ajuri Ngelale, his media aide. He has also nominated four people as deputy governors: Emem Nnana Usoro, Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, Philip Ikeazor, and Dala Bello.
Dr. Olayemi Michael Cardoso
Dr. Olayemi Michael Cardoso is a Nigerian banker, chartered stockbroker, and public policy expert with a remarkable track record of service spanning over four decades in various leadership roles in the public, private, and development sectors. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Managerial and Administrative Studies from Aston University in 1980 and earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration in 2005 from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government as a Mason Fellow. He was awarded an honorary Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) by Aston University in 2017.
Emem Nnana Usoro
Emem Nnana Usoro is an alumna of Harvard Business School and Lagos Business School with over 20 years of banking experience spanning Customer Service, Retail, Commercial, Corporate Banking, and the public sector. She holds a B.Sc. degree in Biochemistry and an MBA degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo
Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo is an international development expert who served as a policy adviser at the Executive Office of United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon in New York. He obtained his Master’s degree in Development Economics and Policy from the University of Manchester and a second Master’s from Ahmadu Bello University, where he studied International Affairs and Diplomacy. Dattijo served as budget and planning commissioner under ex-Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s administration and was the immediate APC senatorial candidate in the last elections, where he lost to the PDP Candidate.
Philip Ikeazor
Philip Ikeazor has over 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry. He holds a BSc. Economics from the University of Buckingham, UK. He has held various board positions, notably as the CEO of Keystone Bank Limited, CEO of Ecobank Kenya Limited, Executive Director of Union Bank Nigeria, Director of Union Bank UK PLC, and Director of Orient Bank Uganda.
Dala Bello
