Maduka Zachary, who was one of the leaders of the Labour Party in Abia State and was known as “Power Zac,” was supposedly killed in his home.
Mr. Zachary was in charge of the Labour Party’s campaign in the state’s Isuikwuato Local Government Area in Uturu in the year 2023.
He was also the campaign director for Hon. Amobi Ogah, who is a member of the House of Representatives and represents Isuikwuato/Umunneochi.
Zachary also led the home group of the Uturu Union before he died.
Reports say that he was killed in his home country of Uturu by people who haven’t been named but who beheaded him and took his head.
Vanguard heard that the victim was a member of the local security team working to keep Uturu safe as crime rates rise.
But when asked about it, Maureen Chinaka, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Abia State, said she hadn’t heard about it yet.
She said, though, that she would tell our correspondent about the sad news when she heard it.
“I haven’t been told yet. I don’t know anything about that right now. So, I’ll get back to you once I know more.
But Ceekay Igara, who is the head of the Labour Party in Abia State, told our reporter that what happened was true.
He told him that he had talked to the LP Local Government Chairman in the area, who had also told him the same thing.
“I asked the leader of our party in the LGA, and he said it was true. He said that it might have something to do with insecurity, since the man was a strong fighter against insecurity and cultism in that area.
He said that the thing happened on Tuesday night.
Around the Uturu (Okigwe/Umunneochi/Isiagu line), which goes through three states, safety has been a big problem.
Bandits have made it hard to get around the area, and kidnappings for ransom are happening more and more, even on the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.
