If Manchester United’s efforts to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta are unsuccessful, it is said that they will focus their attention on Mohammed Kudus, an Ajax forward.
Hojlund, a Danish striker who scored nine goals in Serie A last season, is still United’s top target, according to a Monday report from Mail Sport.
The Red Devils and Atlanta have been in negotiations for weeks, and it is believed that an opening offer is about to be made. However, the Red Devils will not offer more than £60m.
The Mirror claims that Randal Kolo Muani of Eintracht Frankfurt and Kudus are two potential replacements.
The offensive midfielder is a target for Chelsea, although Brighton and Arsenal have also expressed interest.
After making an impression while playing for his old team, FC Nordsjaelland, Kudus was acquired by Ajax in 2020 for £8m.
The Ghanaian international struggled to establish himself in the club after Anthony left for Manchester United in 2022, having a tough start to life in Amsterdam.
Kudus was second in line, but after the Brazilian left, he took off for the Dutch team, scoring 11 goals in 30 league games the last year.
He was crucial to Ajax’s success in the Champions League last season as well, scoring in four of his six matches, most notably against Liverpool at Anfield.
Erik ten Hag would be drawn to Kudus’ versatility because he can play up front, on the wings, and in offensive midfield.
With the addition of Mason Mount, who cost United £60m, the midfield has already been reinforced.
After previous No.1 David De Gea left the team last week, goalie Andre Onana has also joined the Red Devils this summer.
