Unknown Gunmen Kidnaps Kogi Monarch, Demand N5m Ransom

Kidnappers have taken Abdulkerim Aliyu, who is in charge of the district of Ofugo in Opulega in the Ankpa local government area of Kogi State.

Leadership found out that the monarch was taken by gunmen when they broke into his house around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Sources stated that the people who took him had talked to his family and asked for N5 million as a ransom.

Locals say that the kidnappers came to his house pretending to be police officers from the Kogi State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department in Lokoja. They then put him in his Lexus SUV and drove him to their offices for an unknown interview.

“On Sunday, his car was stopped near Ikanekpo, which is a village before Opulega on Anyigba-Ankpa Road. Then we realized that the district head had been taken away, not arrested.

“His kidnappers called his family and asked for N5 million as a ransom,” a town local named Danladi Jibo said.

As of the time this story was written, the state police command had not said anything about the event.
