Unknown Gunmen Kidnap Oba And Wife In Kogi

On Monday, gunmen abducted the Oba of Idofin and his wife in Kogi’s Yagba East Local Government Area.

According to information obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the traditional chief, Shedrack Durojaye Obibeni, and his wife were allegedly abducted at around 5 o’clock along the Makutu-Idofin route.
Yagba East Local Government Council Chairman, Mr. Abdulrasak Asiru, confirmed the event to NAN and called it “very shocking” and “sad.”

The Asiru claimed that he was still reeling from the occurrence, which hadn’t occurred in the neighbourhood in nearly two years.
“The abduction of our revered Oba and his wife this evening has shocked me, the council chairman, and the people of Yagba East greatly.

This is due to the fact that this LGA has a very strong security architecture that keeps watch over us and keeps criminal elements at bay.

I said, “From what I’ve learned, the kidnappers carefully planned this incident; the Oba and his wife had only gone outside to look at something when it happened in less than 10 minutes.”

“We smell a rat over this sad incident, and we are not resting until we get to the criminal elements who did this dastardly act and rescue our traditional ruler and his wife,” he declared.

The head of the council claimed that all of the traditional chiefs and community leaders in Okun land have already received alerts and messages urging them to be watchful and perform extensive searches for the couple’s rescue.

Asiru stated, “As we speak, our hunters and vigilante group are already out into the bushes searching for the criminals so that our Oba and his wife will be rescued as soon as possible.”

The DPO of the impacted area, according to SP Williams Ovye-Aya, the public relations officer for the Kogi Police Command, has yet to brief him on the event.

Ovye-Aya pledged to inform NAN of any new information as soon as he had it. (NAN)
