The British second best is knocked out of the 2023 US Open by Carlos Alcaraz who fought hard in four sets, winning 6-2 6-3 4-6 6-3 across the four sets. Evans was on the brink after playing the first two sets but the British No.2 proved his quality by fighting back.
However, it wasn’t enough to bring down Alcaraz’s masterclass. Alcaraz is now through to the US Open Fourth round after he dealt with Britain’s Dan Evans in four sets.
It is evident why Nadal is Carlos Alcaraz’s Mentor all along. The resilience and fighting spirit must have definitely possessed Carlos. Alcaraz. Carlos Alcaraz talking on the court, “A tricky opponent like you said….We had a pretty good match. When we play with each other, people love that. We made great points.
A lot of different situations but I’m really happy to get through and make the fourth round. We played some great points that made us smile, Daniel as well. It’s great to see that on a tennis court. We play to make people happy, to entertain, and to make the match funny.
Alcaraz was asked about the next round and the possible opponent. He says “Of course I watch the draw, I see the opponents that I can play against but I’m focused day by day, obviously to defend the title here, it’s a goal for me. I know nobody has defended the title here since Federer so I would love to be part of History here. It’s my main goal.”
Alcaraz who moved to the No. 1 spot in the ATP rankings after his victory over Alex De Minaur in the Queen’s Club Championships final, will now get ready and prepare to face a new tough opponent in the US Open fourth round
