According to Sky Sports, West Ham United are close to signing defender Harry Maguire from Manchester United.
Personal terms should not be an issue, but there is still work to be done on the specifics of his departure from United.
Despite the fact that West Ham’s £20m offer for the England international was turned down last month, they remain cautiously optimistic about finalising the signing.
Man Utd turned down West Ham’s £30m offer for Scott McTominay on Monday. The largest deal United might make this summer is thought to be with him, even though they are content to keep him and value him closer to £45m.
While West Ham have not yet countered with a better bid, it is believed that James Ward-Prowse of Southampton will now be the centre of attention.
The club, which backed away from a deal last month after having a £30m proposal rejected, is getting more and more optimistic that they can bring in the Saints captain during this transfer window.
They believe they have made progress, though, and a deal is supposedly imminent.
The player’s willingness to join West Ham is encouraging, and personal terms shouldn’t be an issue.
